Andjela Antic's profile

The Billboard Design

We live in a world full of judgement, shaming, misunderstanding, hating with no reason. We often reject differences instead of embrace them. Especially when it comes to women, even though it's 21st century. Are we fat, skinny, black, white, gay, tattooed, yellow, red, shy, extrovert, successful, lazy, mothers or not, infantile, mature, feminine or masculine? IT'S NON OF ANYONE'S BUSINESS. I am forever inspired by Cynthia Nixon's - Be a Lady They Said. And I am forever inspired by my single mom who raised my sister and me. I love strong women who unapologetically live their lives and own their selves no matter what. Through my artwork I wanted to show a connection between women, a combined forces and strong diversity support. I wanted this artwork to scream "We Embrace Us", because women should embrace one another no matter what. If women embrace each other there is a hope that wide masses will embrace them too. As much as all differences. I want to be embraced for what I am. I want my sister to be embraced for what she is. My mom. I want every woman to be embraced for what she represent. No exceptions. No excuses. Amen to that!

"We Embrace Us" is a billboard concept design made for design contest and outdoor exhibition in Florida.

Embracing Our Differences is a not-for-profit organization based in Sarasota, Florida, that uses the power of art and education to expand consciousness and open the heart to celebrate the diversity of the human family. It accomplishes this through an annual, large-scale, juried art exhibition and a comprehensive series of educational initiatives, programs and resources designed for teachers and students. Through the transformative power of the arts, we educate and inspire to create a better world. A world that embraces diversity, respects differences and actively rejects hatred and prejudice.
